Privacy Policy
Last updated November 1, 2026
This policy explains what the Misbatiya app and this website collect, why, and what you can do about it. We collect what we need to teach you and keep the app running, and nothing more.
1.What we collect
Your account
- Your email address, first name, last name and username.
- Your password, stored only as a one-way hash. We cannot read it.
- When you created your account and when you last used the app.
You create an account with your email address and a password. Misbatiya has no social sign-in.
Your learning
- The lessons, quizzes and stories you complete, your answers, scores and stars.
- Your review schedule for spaced repetition practice.
- Your streak, streak freezes and repairs, daily goal and energy.
- Friends you add, friend streaks and the nudges you send and receive.
Subscriptions
If you subscribe to Premium, Apple or Google takes the payment. We never see your card or bank details. We receive the subscription’s product, store, renewal status and expiry date so the app knows you are a Premium member.
Your device
- A push notification token, if you allow notifications.
- Usage events (for example, that a lesson was finished or the Premium screen was opened) and crash and error reports, with your device model, operating system and app version.
- For free learners who watch a rewarded ad, the ad provider may collect your device’s advertising identifier and approximate location, as described in section 4.
We do not collect your contacts, precise location, microphone or camera, and we collect no sensitive information such as health, religion or ethnic origin. If you save a share image of your progress, the app asks for permission to add it to your photo library and uses that permission for nothing else.
Where it comes from
Almost everything comes from you or from your use of the app. The only information we receive from others is your subscription status, which Apple and Google send us through RevenueCat.
2.How we use it
- To run your account and sign you in.
- To teach: to keep your place on the path, schedule your reviews and keep your streak.
- To show friends your streaks and deliver nudges, only between people who added each other.
- To send reminders you can turn off: a daily practice reminder, and messages about your subscription such as a trial ending.
- To provide Premium and check that your subscription is active.
- To show free learners optional rewarded ads that refill energy.
- To find and fix crashes, and to understand which parts of the app help people learn.
- To answer you when you write to us.
- To keep the service safe, and to block accounts that abuse it.
We do not make decisions about you by automated means that have legal or similarly significant effects.
3.Our legal bases
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the law asks us to name the legal basis for each use of your information:
- Contract: running your account, your lessons, streaks, friends and Premium.
- Legitimate interests: fixing crashes, understanding which lessons work, keeping the service secure and preventing abuse. These interests never override your rights.
- Consent: push notifications and personalised ads. You can withdraw consent at any time in Settings or in your phone’s settings, without affecting what was done before.
- Legal obligation: when the law requires us to keep or disclose information.
If you are in Canada, we rely on your express consent, or on implied consent where it is reasonable, and on the exceptions Canadian law allows, such as investigating fraud or complying with a court order.
5.How long we keep it
We keep your account and learning data for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, your profile, progress, streaks and friendships are removed from our database straight away. Copies in our backups are removed as those backups expire. Store receipts are kept by Apple and Google under their own policies.
6.Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time from the app:
- Open Misbatiya and go to Settings.
- Tap Delete account, type DELETE, and confirm.
If you cannot open the app, email [email protected] from the address on your account and we will delete it for you. Deleting your account does not cancel a Premium subscription: cancel it in your App Store or Google Play subscriptions first.
7.Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to see the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, take a copy of it, restrict or object to how we use it, or withdraw your consent. You can change your name and username in the app, and delete your account from Settings. For anything else, email [email protected]. We will answer within 30 days.
You can also turn off notifications in Settings or in your phone’s settings, and reset or limit your advertising identifier in your phone’s privacy settings.
Checking it is you
Before acting on a request, we confirm it comes from the account holder, usually by replying to the email address on the account. Someone acting for you must show your signed permission.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with our answer, you can complain to your data protection authority: in the United Kingdom, the Information Commissioner’s Office; in the European Economic Area, your national data protection authority; in Switzerland, the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner; in Canada, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
8.United States residents
Residents of California and other US states with privacy laws have the rights in section 7 and the following. In the last 12 months, we have collected these categories of personal information:
| Category | What it means in Misbatiya | Collected |
|---|---|---|
| Identifiers | Email address, name, username, account ID, push notification token, advertising ID (free learners who watch ads) | Yes |
| Commercial information | Premium subscription product, store, renewal status and expiry date | Yes |
| Internet or other network activity | How you use the app (lessons finished, screens opened), crash and error reports, ad interactions | Yes |
| Geolocation | Approximate location inferred by the ad provider from your IP address | Yes |
| Education information | Your progress, answers, scores and streaks in the app. This is not a school or student record | Yes |
| Inferences | Ad interest profiles built by the ad provider, if you allow personalised ads | Yes |
| Biometric information | Fingerprints, face or voice prints | No |
| Audio or video recordings of you | The app plays recordings; it never records you | No |
| Precise location | GPS or other device location | No |
| Protected characteristics | Age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion and similar | No |
| Professional or employment information | Job title, work history | No |
| Payment card details | Card numbers, billing address | No |
| Sensitive personal information | As defined by US state laws | No |
Selling and sharing
We do not sell personal information for money. When a free learner allows personalised ads, AdMob receives the advertising identifier and ad interactions, which some state laws call “sharing” for targeted advertising. To opt out, choose non-personalised ads in Settings under Ad privacy choices, or turn off ad personalisation in your phone’s settings. Premium learners see no ads.
Your rights
- To know whether we process your personal information, and to access it.
- To correct it, delete it, or get a copy of it.
- To opt out of targeted advertising.
- To learn the categories of third parties we disclose it to.
- Not to be treated differently for using any of these rights.
To use them, email [email protected]. An authorised agent may make a request for you with your signed permission. If we decline your request, you can appeal by replying to our answer or by writing to the same address. We will tell you the outcome of the appeal in writing, and if you disagree with it, you can contact your state attorney general.
9.Children
Misbatiya is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, write to [email protected] and we will delete it.
10.Security
Data travels between the app and our servers over encrypted connections. Passwords are hashed, sign-in tokens are stored in your phone’s secure storage, and signing out or changing your password ends your other sessions. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will tell you if a breach affects you.
11.International transfers
Misbatiya is run from Cameroon, and our providers may process data in other countries, including the United States and the European Union. Where the law requires it, we rely on safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
12.Do Not Track
This website sets no tracking cookies and runs no analytics, so it collects nothing for a Do Not Track signal to switch off. In the app, use the ad and notification controls in sections 7 and 8.
13.Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. If the change is significant, we will also tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
14.Contact
Misbatiya is responsible for your personal information. For privacy questions or requests, write to [email protected], or by post to:
